Care Instructions
Wash your rubber boots soon after use so that dirt comes off more easily. You can clean them with lukewarm water and a soft brush, gently brushing the surface. Avoid pressing too hard while brushing. Let the boots dry at room temperature.
If needed, you can treat the surface of the boots with a rubber care product if the rubber feels dry or has become dull. This helps keep the surface shiny and more resistant to dirt for longer.
If your feet sweat inside the boots, it’s important to let them air out well after use. Place the boots upright so the shaft does not fold, remove any removable insoles, and allow the boots to dry naturally before the next use.
If the boots become wet on the inside as well, remove the insole and make sure air can circulate inside the boots as much as possible.
It’s also good to give your boots “rest days” so they can dry and ventilate properly.
Store the rubber boots upright, protected from UV light, in a room-temperature or cooler environment.

There are very few barriers to using barefoot shoes.
However, such barriers include functional or structural disorders of the feet or lower limbs. For example, hallux rigidus, or stiff big toe, where the big toe joint does not bend easily or at all upwards during the push-off phase of the step – which is a requirement for the natural roll of the step.
Similarly, any surgical operations where joints are fused – that is, their movement is restricted or completely prevented – pose challenges for the smooth use of barefoot shoes and the benefits they provide.
Loss of sensation in the soles of the feet (neuropathy) due to diabetes or nerve damage can also be considered a contraindication for using barefoot shoes, as you may injure your feet without noticing through the thin sole of the shoe.
If you have painful osteoarthritis or an active inflammatory phase of rheumatoid arthritis, it is advisable to reconsider using barefoot shoes until the condition improves.

Brilliant wellies. They were put to the test straight away in the garden. They seem to be made of higher-quality rubber than their predecessors, which didn’t even last a year. My feet don’t get tired or sore when I’m walking about in these.
These wellies are easy to put on, stay up well and are completely waterproof. Like other shoes from Vaistoa, they have a flexible sole and a suitably wide fit. So far, their waterproofing and durability have been faultless, and the yellow colour is lovely. I was right on the cusp between two sizes, and going for the larger size was definitely the right choice.
The rainsboots are good, and i really like them when I'm out and about in the rain. But for my foot the front of the boot is too flat and I can feel them against the top of my toas and the ridge.
For some reason i also felt that my socks became damp, not wet but damp, and I think that is because they touch the inner lining if the boot.
Still like them and will probably buy another pair when these are done (but maybe in a larger size)
In the spring of 2025, I bought a similar pair of Vaistoa Katve boots, and they broke after just under a year and very little wear. (I didn’t store the boots folded up in a bundle, but left them lying loose on a shoe rack in a dimly lit wardrobe.) In the photo, the broken boot is on my left foot and the new one on my right. I love how light these boots are and how well they fit my sore feet, but I really do hope these new ones will last! I’ve tried to patch up the damaged bits, but I haven’t managed to get any of the patches to stay in place. Do you have any tips on how I might manage to repair them?
I’m glad that, after giving it a lot of thought, I decided to buy some wellies. During this rainy summer, they’ve been the best choice of footwear at the holiday cottage. I’ve also been pleasantly surprised that the shafts stay upright and the wellies are ready to slip on right by the door.
When ordering the boots, I took measurements both with a proper in-shoe gauge and whilst wearing woollen socks, as I love wearing woollen socks all year round. Both measurements suggested a size smaller than usual. After comparing the inside lengths of my other shoes, I ended up ordering one size larger and I’m happy with them. These days, I tend to order shoes by comparing the inside lengths of my favourite shoes with those of the new ones, rather than relying on the recommended size.
Even my thick calves fit into the shafts! They offer good grip, even on rough terrain. They feel great on my feet and are easy to walk in. The boots take up very little space when travelling.
The first wellies of my life that actually almost stay on my feet! As I have narrow feet, no wellies have ever stayed on before, but with thick socks these stay on quite well. A lovely surprise, then!
Lovely shoes. Has wear them for hours every day in forest, swamp, pickning cloudberries. They are so comfortable, really like that you can close them around the leg, so that nothing can fall in the boots when you walk in the forest

I’ve been out for a few walks with the dog. They’re good boots, better than my first pair. The shafts stay upright, so they dry more easily. The rubber is sturdier, and the soles aren’t as slippery as on my first pair of Vaistoa wellington boots. Those lasted two summers; hopefully these will last longer. I was torn between these and the Sievi ones, wondering which to buy. I ended up going for these. They’re light and fit well. They don’t flop about on your feet like normal rubber boots. They’re easy to walk in; an 8 km walk along a forest track is a breeze. They’re quite a small size; the boots have a size 38 vaistoainsole, and it’s a bit big as it sits slightly high up. I measured my foot and ordered size 38 based on those measurements, so it wouldn’t have mattered even if they’d been a size bigger. The size chart isn’t entirely accurate. They do fit perfectly, but there isn’t too much room to spare. If you’re torn between Kontio and Katve, whichever you choose, I’d definitely recommend the Vaistoa Katve2. They’re light and comfortable to wear. I’d just like the colours to be a bit brighter.
The first photo is from the start of the trip in UK Park; the second is after 120 km of the journey. They coped well with marshes, bogs, woods, river crossings, fell scrub and so on. 👍 No blisters on my heels or toes. I’d definitely recommend them!

I bought some rubber wellies from Vaistoa; they’re light on my feet. They’re lovely for walking on the grass. I haven’t had a chance to go into the woods yet. In spring, when bird fleas, ticks and other insects attack my ankles, the long legs come in handy. It was worth buying them… my grandchildren are also excited that Granny has wellies…
Took a test run through mud, water, forest, etc, and was very happy with how comfortable they are. I chose my normal shoe size and they're good, maybe a teeny bit big. But I'll be wearing thick socks on our Canadian journey where we will constantly be in and out of boats and kayaks and taking hikes between paddling sessions so no worries. I have thin calves so nice to have the toggle at the top. They stayed up, no problem. Love the packing bag, it will come in very handy!
This was a new experience! Soft, light and comfortable rubber boots that comes in a compression bag which makes them easy to bring along i your backpack. They are great to wear and can handle walks pretty well. The only thing I would be careful with is walking up or especially down hill, they are a bit too soft for that. But for high grass or in the forest, picking blueberries or mushrooms, they are probably great! So far, I have used them on a photo excursion, taking close-ups of frogs, and a bit of playing with lambs in the fields. I really love these boots!
I liked them so much that I bought a similar pair for my child as well. They’re still a bit on the big side, as the smallest size is 36, but my child is delighted that the legs are long enough. Hi! I wanted to give you some feedback on your barefoot shoes. I have a 90 per cent visual impairment, and previously getting about was a slow and stumbling affair, especially on forest paths and in the countryside. Since buying shoes from you (trainers, trainers and now boots), my walking has become much more nimble. Because I can feel the contours of the ground precisely through the soles of my feet, I feel confident moving at a brisk pace. The information I receive through the soles of my feet compensates for what my eyes can no longer make out. For me, these are the very best accessibility shoes, which have restored my freedom of movement in nature. From this perspective, I would also call these ‘sensory-responsive’ shoes: shoes that help you ‘see’ with your feet. Accessibility that supports the sense of touch: When eyesight has deteriorated, the precise information about the terrain received through the soles of the feet compensates for the missing visual information. Ground contact that boosts confidence: A thin and flexible sole eliminates the feeling of uncertainty, as the foot does not ‘wobble’ on top of a thick, hard sole, but moulds itself to the ground. At last, some rubber wellies you can actually keep on your feet. They worked a treat on my first walk in the woods. I went for one size larger than usual, so there’s plenty of room for woollen socks. For someone with thick calves like me, the top of the boot might have been a touch wider. It would be lovely if they came in two widths 😍
These boots are so comfortable you can’t even feel them on your feet. The shafts are long enough. They take up very little space, so you can easily pack them for a hike. They come with a bag that’s easy to attach to your rucksack.
Absolutely love these boots, couldn’t live without them now. I’ve been looking for proper waterproof barefoot shoes in vain for a long time, until finally we were able to buy Vaistoa here in the UK, I was so happy. And basically ever since I got them in winter I wore them every single day. (In the UK you can’t get away without wellies for half of the year..) Anyhow, I ordered my usual size and they fit well, even have space for a pair of thick socks, and a thin (3mm) insulation insole for the colder days. (Which is how I like my barefoot boots.) They are so so comfortable! They have good grip. I’ve done many walks (mainly hill walking) in them, but also walked up streams, climbed into caves - some with water running down into them, climbed some rocks (to get to caves), I’ve worn them just to run errands in town. I just cannot express how much I’ve enjoyed them. They are so light and you can forget you’re wearing them. (Unlike most wellies.) They are truly waterproof, and just the freedom to go wherever without worrying AND feel comfy at the same time and feel the ground - these boots are my fave!
The only terrain that they failed me was very slippery deep fresh mud on a bad path up the side of a gorge - I’ve been sliding all over the place - but most shoes would fail when the mud is deep and slippery. (Even my friend who was with me and was wearing proper hiking boots was slipping and sliding here and there, but I must admit I was half their speed getting up and down that muddy path..)
After about 2.5-3 months of wearing every day they somehow got a hole, but customer service was so kind, gracious and excellent, they exchanged the boots. Honestly, thank you Vaistoa, this is first class customer experience, and I get that you really care about your customers and the service you provide, not just the product and the money, and I couldn’t appreciate you more for this. Please keep making these boots. I’m a fan for life.
I tested the trainers in the rocky woodland of Kemiönsaari. They’re really well suited to walking along paths, running and walking on the beach. It was lovely to be able to feel the paths, the rocks and the seashore.🫶💖
Did a 5k cross country walk through puddles and long grass with my Nordic Walking poles after a day’s heavy rain . Feet dry and comfortable and felt much like my usual barefoot boots ( from Freet ) . The Freet boots are water resistant not waterproof so the new boots were just the ticket being 100% waterproof and light weight and flexible . Their durability is yet to be tested .

These rubber boots are wonderful! They are completely different from ordinary boots and weigh next to nothing. Every step feels really comfortable. I highly recommend them.
I've only been using my new wellies twice this far, today for good four hours out walking and cycling, and they're exactly what I've been looking for. Very light and comfortable, flexible enough to squat for a while without restrictions, and with a good enough grip on wet grass and pavement. Also 100% waterproof even in puddles unlike most barefoot shoes marketed as such, my feet were perfectly dry after a day out in the rain. They were quite pricey, but assuming they last for a while I'd say they're worth it for anyone who's active regardless of the weather.
