Where are Vaistoa shoes made?

Our shoes are designed in-house in Finland, by our own shoe designer Maria and our whole team. Customer needs are at the centre of the design work, and we make shoes that allow the foot to move naturally.

The shoes are manufactured at factories we have selected in China. We don't hide this — we talk about it openly. China is the world's most significant centre of footwear production and one of the key developers of manufacturing technology in the industry. Behind this is a broad ecosystem of materials and components, advanced production expertise, large capacity, and the ability to take new ideas quickly from prototype to finished product.

In our own collaboration, this expertise shows especially in the development of materials, sole structures, moulds and production methods. Fast, customer-driven product development makes the collaboration smooth and helps us develop high-quality, functional shoes for our customers' needs.

We choose our factories ourselves and visit them. In addition, our Finnish partner living in China visits the factories frequently, which keeps the collaboration seamless and keeps us close to production.

Quality and safety are verified by independent, named parties. Shoe components are tested in TÜV SÜD's laboratories to verify compliance with REACH requirements, after which the complete shoe is tested again and subjected to stress and wear tests. From the manufacturing factories we additionally require a valid social responsibility audit (Amfori BSCI or SMETA) or commitment to SA8000 certification. This is how we make sure our products meet EU requirements, are safe to use, and are manufactured in responsible conditions.

What materials are Vaistoa shoes made from?

We pay attention to the responsibility of our products from the design and production stage onwards. The Vaistoa product family is designed entirely in Finland, as shown by the Design from Finland mark granted to the product family.

In our design work we emphasise the efficient use of materials and components, utilise surplus materials, and use recycled materials. All our shoes are vegan, and we use no animal-based materials in them.

One of the main materials in our shoes is recycled polyester, which is light, flexible and durable. Even recycled, it is nearly as high-quality as virgin polyester. The recycled polyester we use is GRS-certified, and its raw material comes from recycled plastic bottles and food packaging.

We develop materials that allow the foot's natural movement on any surface: comfortable, flexible, light and still durable. Our goal is to keep increasing the share of recycled material.

Is Vaistoa dropshipping or Temu goods?

No. In dropshipping, the seller holds no stock — products are shipped straight from a factory. Delivery times are then often long, and the goods are the factory's standard catalogue, sold as-is to many other resellers too. Our products are stored in Finland and shipped to you from here, not straight from a factory. We also have our own product development.

Vaistoa barefoot shoes are designed by our own shoe designer. Vaistoa is a registered trademark, and the soles of our shoes are protected by registered design rights — no one else is allowed to manufacture identical soles. We don't put our name on bulk shoes we haven't designed ourselves. Our range also includes other products that support the body's wellbeing, such as toe separators and cork massage balls. We haven't designed them from scratch ourselves, but they are produced to our specifications, carry the Vaistoa logo, and we quality-check them ourselves.
