Created for Nordic Winter!
The Vaistoa Pitoa™ Winter Sole is designed to enable free and natural movement throughout the northern winter.
It provides exceptional stability and ground feel even on icy surfaces. The all-new design combines the natural sensitivity of a thin and flexible sole with improved traction thanks to integrated grip zones.
All adult winter models now feature the new Vaistoa Pitoa™ Winter Sole, where high-friction grip zones are molded into Vaistoa’s thin and flexible base to enhance traction. These zones are made from a softer, high-friction rubber compound to ensure optimal grip. Strategically placed under the forefoot and heel, they allow for a natural stride in all winter conditions.
The high-friction grip zones are seamlessly molded into the sole, making the structure durable and long-lasting. The soft traction material provides better grip on ice and snow but wears slightly faster on dry, rough surfaces. In winter conditions, snow and ice naturally slow down abrasion, helping the traction remain consistent for longer.
Vaistoa Pitoa™ combines the natural barefoot feel with reliable grip that supports confident movement even in winter.
You can maintain the shoe’s water-repellent treatment by using a protective spray.
Clean off any loose dirt after use with a damp cloth or sponge.
If your feet sweat inside the shoes, it’s important to let them air out properly after wearing. Remove the insole if it’s detachable, open the shoe fully, and allow it to dry naturally before the next use.
If the shoes get wet on the inside, remove the insole and open the shoe wide to maximize airflow inside.
It’s also good to give your shoes “rest days,” allowing them to dry and air out completely.
Store your shoes upright, at room temperature, and away from direct UV light.
The soft, high-friction rubber material provides excellent grip on ice and snow but wears slightly faster on dry, rough surfaces. In winter conditions, snow and ice naturally slow down wear, helping maintain consistent traction over time.

There are very few barriers to using barefoot shoes.
However, such barriers include functional or structural disorders of the feet or lower limbs. For example, hallux rigidus, or stiff big toe, where the big toe joint does not bend easily or at all upwards during the push-off phase of the step – which is a requirement for the natural roll of the step.
Similarly, any surgical operations where joints are fused – that is, their movement is restricted or completely prevented – pose challenges for the smooth use of barefoot shoes and the benefits they provide.
Loss of sensation in the soles of the feet (neuropathy) due to diabetes or nerve damage can also be considered a contraindication for using barefoot shoes, as you may injure your feet without noticing through the thin sole of the shoe.
If you have painful osteoarthritis or an active inflammatory phase of rheumatoid arthritis, it is advisable to reconsider using barefoot shoes until the condition improves.
If necessary, consult a physiotherapist or podiatrist who is knowledgeable about this matter. Remember to tell them that you want to transition to using barefoot shoes and ask how they can assist you in this project.

Every Step in Barefoot Shoes Advances Your Well-being
The 4 Key Features: How Shoe Design Influences Your Health
Water-Repellent Vegan Suede
The water-repellent surface material protects your feet from moisture and splashes, keeping them dry whether you’re walking through the city or fetching the mail.
Vaistoa Pitoa™ Winter Sole
A winter-designed sole with strategically placed traction zones under the forefoot and heel. It provides enhanced grip and confidence even on icy surfaces—keeping your step stable and natural in all conditions.
Warm and Soft Faux-Fur Lining
The soft inner faux-fur lining keeps your feet comfortably warm and adds cozy softness to winter days—without feeling heavy.
Matti Melanen
Physiotherapist Recommends
Most winter boots keep your feet warm but prevent them from functioning naturally. When movement is restricted, the small muscles in the feet become inactive and circulation decreases—resulting in cold feet and reduced body control.
Huurre does things differently. It allows your feet to function as they’re meant to—freely and naturally. Toes can spread, small muscles activate, and metabolism increases, helping your feet generate warmth through movement.
The new Vaistoa Pitoa™ winter sole provides greater grip and balance even on icy surfaces, while maintaining the lightness and ground feel of a true barefoot shoe.
The result is warm, stable, and living feet that support the whole body—naturally.
Customer Reviews
Overall rating: 4.5 / 5 from 116 reviews.
I’ve been really happy with these shoes! I used to wear studded shoes in winter, but now I’ve switched to wearing only these winter boots. They’re lightweight and comfortable to walk in, as your whole foot can move freely and isn’t crammed into a small space. It also feels safer walking outside in winter, as I don’t have to worry about falling over. I feel that the grip on the ground is better with these boots than with so-called ‘normal’ shoes. The foot pain I used to get from other shoes when walking for longer periods has also disappeared.
The only downside to these boots is that they’re a bit tricky to put on, and in freezing weather your toes tend to get cold quite easily.
I’ve been wearing them for a couple of months. I’ve walked in slush and in freezing conditions with these. They kept the water out very well. In freezing weather, the sole feels a bit cold, but I’ve bought some insoles, so they’re fine for standing around in these freezing temperatures. I’m really happy with the boots and my feet don’t get sore even when walking long distances. I’m particularly pleased with the zips on the outside of the boots. They’re a breeze to slip on 👌
The shoes are lovely, though I haven’t had much chance to wear them this winter as the snow has melted 🙂.
In the background is the friend for whom I bought these shoes for their brisk walks.
Looking forward to winter 😊
I’ve been searching for ages for shoes that’ll keep my feet warm when I’m at the ice rink for several hours at a time, several times a week. NOW I’ve got them on my feet! The cold doesn’t seep up through the floor into my feet, so I no longer need to look for a warmer spot to stand in. I even stay warm in the changing room! And when my feet are warm, my whole body stays warm too. Thank you ❤️
The best winter shoes I’ve ever owned! These are my first barefoot shoes, and I ordered three more straight away. There’s no going back to ordinary shoes. I went for size 37, which is my usual size in normal shoes and I think it’s just right for these too. They feel like woollen socks or slippers on my feet – absolutely lovely. Surprisingly warm and, best of all, they seem to provide good grip even on slippery surfaces. Another plus is that they aren’t affected by the slushy conditions down south. I was pleasantly surprised by their appearance too; they don’t look at all like traditional flip-flops, but are actually really lovely. I can’t think of anything to complain about; I’m so relieved to have finally found shoes that don’t pinch or rub. Thank you!!
Comfortable, lightweight shoes. The insole is slippery, so I’ll have to try a thin, grippy insole in them. They’re a bit too loose for me, so I’ll need to wear thicker socks. The zips come undone by themselves. The shoes got wet through the upper, so I’ll need to apply a protective spray to the upper. The colour is lovely.
They look and feel really good. There’s plenty of room for woollen socks too. The zips nearly came undone when I was running about with my child. They’re really good!
It’s my first time wearing them and all I can say is wow! It feels like walking in my socks, and the shoes keep my feet dry. The best thing is the grippy sole, which really works on the icy, root-covered forest path. Shoes: 5/5
Absolutely brilliant shoes!
I was amazed by how effective the grip pads on the soles are – they really work!
Soft and warm.
These shoes couldn’t be any better.
I was really disappointed with the quality of these shoes. The synthetic fibre lining is really itchy. My feet get sweaty and then my toes get cold. It’s a right nuisance.
Comfortable and warm, and great for walking! I haven’t had a chance to test how well the grip pads work yet, as it hasn’t been slippery 😅
I’d like to see a small improvement to the shoes: some sort of loop or something at the back to help pull them on! Both the upper and the lining are slippery, so getting them on can be a bit of a struggle at times.
Vaistoa Huurre The first time I put them on. They felt so light and soft. It was as if I wasn’t wearing any shoes at all! What’s more, they’re such a lovely colour and so cute. I reckon these have instantly become my favourite winter shoes.
I received the shoes yesterday. The delivery was really quick and the shoes feel great on my feet. I usually wear size 39 shoes and, according to the size chart, it was a bit of a toss-up between 38 and 39. I went for a 39. They’re a bit on the big side, but they’re really comfortable with woollen socks. I haven’t had a chance to test the grip here in the south yet, but I’m hoping that the skating on icy roads I’ve had in previous years will be a thing of the past :D
I picked up the shoes from the post office, tried them on, fell in love with them and headed straight out in them! They’re warm, easy to slip on and look great 😍
They’re super comfy on your feet. Lovely soft and warm fur lining. The grip strips on the sole are a great new feature 👌 And a zip is always a bonus – it makes it easier to slip the shoes on.
They are comfy and warm when they are on...but I find the zips on the outside really annoying. They just aren't easy to use. Also a bit tight round the ankle when drawing the boots on....and then because they are a bit tight the leather/fur makes it difficult to pull the back lip up. It's slippery.
Very lightweight to wear, which is nice...and they look very nice...;but a hoop at the back would be really useful.
It’s safe to walk when you can feel what’s happening beneath your feet. It forces you to maintain the correct centre of gravity whilst walking. It’s hard to go back to my old shoes.
The fit of the shoes is brilliant; next, I’d focus on the design – how the shoes look.
These aren’t even warm enough with woollen socks on. There was plenty of room even with socks on, but my toes froze in -19-degree frost whilst watching the fireworks, even though I was walking briskly the whole time. After an hour, they were so cold that I got frostbite. The grip strips don’t make a noticeable difference compared to previous winter models that didn’t have them. They’re just as slippery on icy roads. Otherwise, they’re just a standard barefoot shoe and, of course, look really nice.
Due to the weather conditions down south, I haven’t been able to test whether they grip on a slippery surface. I was surprisingly able to get them on my wide, broad feet quite easily, which has often been quite difficult with many of the barefoot shoes from Vaistoa. I reckon they’re good!
I’ve been completely won over by these shoes myself, and these last few pairs were gifts for my husband. They’re lovely – they get your feet moving and aid recovery. The response has been surprisingly positive and delighted!
Vaistoa These open-toed shoes didn’t let me down this time either! Stylish, comfortable and warm winter shoes. They’re certainly great for walking in snow and wind.
Although the sole is thin, its material provides good traction on slippery surfaces.
The Vaistoa Pitoa™ Winter Sole features grip zones that improve traction even on icy terrain.
The thin sole also allows you to feel the ground beneath your feet, enhancing grip, balance, and overall stability.
No. Barefoot shoes combine several features that keep your feet warm, such as a cozy faux fur lining that provides insulation. In addition, the natural activity of your feet increases the body’s own heat production.
Vaistoa thermal insoles further enhance this natural warmth: their foil layer reflects body heat back to the foot, reducing cold transfer from the ground and helping to keep your feet comfortably warm even in cold conditions.
You can test the shoes indoors for 90 days. Returns are free, so you can order risk-free and with peace of mind. If you're not completely satisfied, simply return them within 90 days for a full refund. No questions asked.

Barefoot shoes have been around for years and are based on principles of natural movement and foot health. They are not just a trend; they are a step towards healthier footwear choices.
Our barefoot shoes are made from high-quality materials and designed for use in various environments. They are durable, but it’s important to remember that all shoes are consumable items. Barefoot shoes naturally have thinner soles compared to traditional thick-soled shoes. The durability of the soles can vary depending on the level of activity, the environment, and your walking style.
While athletes and outdoor enthusiasts use barefoot shoes for their features, they are suitable for anyone looking for comfort and the benefits of natural movement.
Many people with foot problems have found relief with barefoot shoes because they improve foot functionality. However, it’s wise to consult a healthcare professional before making a change if you are unsure.
Barefoot shoes do not provide any support because their purpose is to allow the foot muscles to work while moving. Supported shoes weaken the foot muscles because they don’t get to do their job.
