“When the foot is allowed to function naturally, metabolism increases and the feet warm themselves through movement.”–Physiotherapist Matti Melanen

Created for Nordic Winter!
The Vaistoa Pitoa™ Winter Sole is designed to enable free and natural movement throughout the northern winter.
It provides exceptional stability and ground feel even on icy surfaces. The all-new design combines the natural sensitivity of a thin and flexible sole with improved traction thanks to integrated grip zones.
All adult winter models now feature the new Vaistoa Pitoa™ Winter Sole, where high-friction grip zones are molded into Vaistoa’s thin and flexible base to enhance traction. These zones are made from a softer, high-friction rubber compound to ensure optimal grip. Strategically placed under the forefoot and heel, they allow for a natural stride in all winter conditions.
The high-friction grip zones are seamlessly molded into the sole, making the structure durable and long-lasting. The soft traction material provides better grip on ice and snow but wears slightly faster on dry, rough surfaces. In winter conditions, snow and ice naturally slow down abrasion, helping the traction remain consistent for longer.
Vaistoa Pitoa™ combines the natural barefoot feel with reliable grip that supports confident movement even in winter.
You can maintain the shoe’s water-resistant treatment by using a protective spray.
Clean off any loose dirt after use with a damp cloth or sponge.
If your feet sweat inside the shoes, it’s important to let them air out properly after wearing. Remove the insole if it’s detachable, open the shoe fully, and let it dry naturally before the next use.
If the shoes get wet on the inside, remove the insole and open the shoe wide to allow maximum air circulation.
It’s also a good idea to give your shoes “rest days,” allowing them to dry and air out completely.
Store your shoes upright, at room temperature, and away from direct UV light.
The soft, high-friction rubber material provides excellent grip on ice and snow but wears slightly faster on dry, rough surfaces. In winter conditions, snow and ice naturally reduce wear, helping maintain consistent traction over time.

There are very few barriers to using barefoot shoes.
However, such barriers include functional or structural disorders of the feet or lower limbs. For example, hallux rigidus, or stiff big toe, where the big toe joint does not bend easily or at all upwards during the push-off phase of the step – which is a requirement for the natural roll of the step.
Similarly, any surgical operations where joints are fused – that is, their movement is restricted or completely prevented – pose challenges for the smooth use of barefoot shoes and the benefits they provide.
Loss of sensation in the soles of the feet (neuropathy) due to diabetes or nerve damage can also be considered a contraindication for using barefoot shoes, as you may injure your feet without noticing through the thin sole of the shoe.
If you have painful osteoarthritis or an active inflammatory phase of rheumatoid arthritis, it is advisable to reconsider using barefoot shoes until the condition improves.
If necessary, consult a physiotherapist or podiatrist who is knowledgeable about this matter. Remember to tell them that you want to transition to using barefoot shoes and ask how they can assist you in this project.

Every Step in Barefoot Shoes Advances Your Well-being
The 4 Key Features: How Shoe Design Influences Your Health
Warm, light, and agile
Hurmos 2 (size 42) weighs only 305g! These ultra-light, flexible boots move effortlessly with you, offering smooth and natural comfort. A soft faux fur lining keeps your feet warm and cozy all winter long – without adding weight.
Vaistoa Pitoa™ Winter Sole
A winter-designed sole with strategically placed grip zones under the forefoot and heel. It provides better traction and stability even on icy surfaces – keeping your step steady and natural, even in challenging conditions.
Water-repellent
The water-resistant outer material protects your feet from moisture and splashes, keeping them dry on both city streets and snowy trails.
Matti Melanen
Physiotherapist Recommends
Many winter boots make your feet passive – they support and protect, but at the same time prevent the foot from moving naturally. This weakens muscle function, body control, and balance, especially on slippery surfaces.
Vaistoa Hurmos 2 Winter barefoot boots restore this natural function. The zero-drop, flexible sole and wide toe box allow your toes and foot muscles to activate, strengthening your step and improving overall stability.
The water-resistant surface protects against moisture, while the grippy winter sole provides reliable traction in changing winter conditions – without sacrificing ground feel or the natural freedom of movement.

Overall rating: 4.3 / 5 from 238 reviews.
I've waited all year for these boots to be released, they arrived yesterday and I was not disappointed. Light, comfortable and warm. They also have more than enough space for your toes without compromising on style, they don't have the 'duck feet' look of some barefoot shoes. I'm very happy with them.
I started wearing them right away. The soles grip well on slippery wet surfaces and don't let water in. The only downside is the laces, but that's my own problem 😅 In any case, I recommend them!
My first pair of barefoot shoes for winter. Familiar, reliable quality! I've worn them a couple of times. I haven't had a chance to test the grip yet due to the weather.
I love these boots as they've kept me warm and comfy through winter and the off white colour goes well with everything. I can easily wipe them clean. The only downside is the cottonlike material on the side of the boot as it's not as easy to keep clean and it's a light colour
Really comfortable shoes, although the quality left a bit to be desired. Mine have a few minor stitching faults here and there, which show up as small ‘bumps’ in a few places – what a shame! But luckily, it’s only a cosmetic issue. Also, the ‘grip pads’ on the soles are completely useless on icy surfaces. Otherwise, I’m satisfied.
Really good winter shoes. They fit perfectly and are comfortable to wear. Thanks to the grippy soles, they aren’t slippery. The only downside is that the cold from the ground really comes through, and my toes are freezing after a walk.
Lovely winter trainers – my feet stay dry now that I’ve got these. I don’t usually buy white trainers because you can see the dirt, but so far, at least, I haven’t noticed any on these.
I could walk several kilometres in these boots – the pain hasn’t held me back at all.
I’d definitely recommend them! 🥰👌
Otherwise, they’re really good-quality and comfortable shoes, but not quite as warm as you’d hope winter shoes to be. You’ll need to wear woollen socks with them in freezing weather.
Jättesköna och varma. Man blir glad när man sätter på sig dom. Helt torr om fötterna även efter att ha sköljt över av en våg. Storleken perfekt valde en storlek större för att få plats med raggsockor.
They’re really comfortable to wear. And as you can see from the photo, they’ve been through a lot, whatever the weather. They keep your feet dry even in a bit of slush.
I first ordered size 41, which is the size I’ve worn in your shoes before. The previous models were from the Uoma range. This Hurmos model turned out to be a bit roomier, so I had to swap it for a size 40. I’ve just picked up the parcel from the post office and, thank goodness, I swapped it rather than just returning it. They fit perfectly now! Thank you ❤️
They’re comfortable on my feet and there’s plenty of room for woollen socks too.
I haven’t had a chance to try them on slippery surfaces yet, but when I run my hand over the sole, it feels as though they’ll offer good grip.
They’re comfortable and look great on your feet. They’re big enough to fit even thicker woollen socks, although putting them on is a bit trickier as there’s no zip. The grippy sole helps with grip.
Amazing shoes. super comfortable and warm. I was worried that the lack of a zip on the side would be annoying with taller shoes, but they have done some magic with these shoes cause they are so easy to take on and off.
I've had issues with pain in my feet, knees and back for years because of a dislocated knee way back when that created an imbalance in muscle load on my left foot, causing sore knee, tight calf and a tight hamstring that pulls on my lower back and probably also being a reason I´ve had plantar fasciitis a couple of times. Even regular exercise and stretching wouldn´t solve it properly. Always wore "good" shoes like Hoka and the like because bad shoes would wreck me, but even those kinda shoes would still cause me pain after a workday.
I have been wearing only these shoes for weeks now. Walking to and from work. Full workday. Out playing with the kids in the snow. my feet and knee have never felt better. No sore feet, no aching knee, no tight muscles. Not only has it removed my pain, but in doing so it has given me back energy that would usually be wasted on walking around all day aching.
I can 100% recommend these shoes to anyone and I´m going to get another pair come summer.
My first pair of barefoot shoes! They look great, feel great, and they are warm enough for -2° C. The first 2 days of wearing them, I experienced some pain on the outside of my ankles, but this was likely because I'm not used to wearing boots, as this went away after one day of rest and is completely gone now. One piece of advice (from this non-expert) - get used to forefoot-striking before transitioning to barefoot shoes, and your feet and calves will be prepared for it. I did that, and getting these shoes just felt like liberation. Also, why is it fun to walk on pebbles? Highly recommend these shoes.
Great, comfy shoes :D They’re certainly more slippery than proper winter boots and the like, but they cope well in icy conditions thanks to the anti-slip features on the soles.
The shoes are wonderfully soft and light, BUT their practicality suffers precisely because of that softness. Putting them on and taking them off is a bit of a struggle, even when the laces are loosened. The upper is so soft that, despite using a shoehorn and the generous fit, the fabric tends to fray. A side zip would be a significant improvement to the practicality.
This was my first time trying barefoot shoes, and my experience has been positive. Woolly socks fit nicely inside the shoes. My feet have stayed dry and warm. The soles of my feet no longer ache whilst walking. The design is good, and the shoes are comfortable and look lovely on my feet. I’ll definitely be buying more.
The frost has finally arrived, so I’ve started wearing my new Vaistoa Hurmos Winter 2 barefoot trainers. And they’re great! As a regular wearer of barefoot shoes, I’d give these extra marks for their narrower last. Some shoes feel like ‘flops’ on your feet, but these don’t. My only suggestion for improvement would be a side zip to make them easier to put on.
They’re lovely to wear! Tested in -10 degrees in snowy conditions – they keep your feet warm. I’d definitely recommend replacing the elastic straps to make them easier to put on. Pictured are eezybeezy’s 105 cm Velcro straps, which are just the right length for a size 39 shoe.
Hi. Thank you. I’ve been wearing barefoot shoes for several years now, both in summer and winter. I don’t wear any other shoes – they feel so good on my feet… Even the calluses on the soles of my feet have softened, etc.
These shoes are really comfortable to wear and you can walk long distances in them. The downside is that your toes get cold even in a slight frost. I had to put on woollen socks as soon as the temperature dropped below zero. Luckily, they do fit inside the shoes, though.
Although the sole is thin, its material provides good traction on slippery surfaces.
The Vaistoa Pitoa™ Winter Sole features grip zones that improve traction even on icy terrain.
The thin sole also allows you to feel the ground beneath your feet, enhancing grip, balance, and overall stability.
No. Barefoot shoes combine several features that keep your feet warm, such as a cozy faux fur lining that provides insulation. In addition, the natural activity of your feet increases the body’s own heat production.
Vaistoa thermal insoles further enhance this natural warmth: their foil layer reflects body heat back to the foot, reducing cold transfer from the ground and helping to keep your feet comfortably warm even in cold conditions.
You can test the shoes indoors for 90 days. Returns are free, so you can order risk-free and with peace of mind. If you're not completely satisfied, simply return them within 90 days for a full refund. No questions asked.

Barefoot shoes have been around for years and are based on principles of natural movement and foot health. They are not just a trend; they are a step towards healthier footwear choices.
Our barefoot shoes are made from high-quality materials and designed for use in various environments. They are durable, but it’s important to remember that all shoes are consumable items. Barefoot shoes naturally have thinner soles compared to traditional thick-soled shoes. The durability of the soles can vary depending on the level of activity, the environment, and your walking style.
While athletes and outdoor enthusiasts use barefoot shoes for their features, they are suitable for anyone looking for comfort and the benefits of natural movement.
Many people with foot problems have found relief with barefoot shoes because they improve foot functionality. However, it’s wise to consult a healthcare professional before making a change if you are unsure.
Barefoot shoes do not provide any support because their purpose is to allow the foot muscles to work while moving. Supported shoes weaken the foot muscles because they don’t get to do their job.
